TEAM
Catherine Yan
Founder and Director
Catherine is a sophomore at Phillips Exeter Academy. She has been playing piano for 10 years and French horn for 5. She's passionate about math and physics, as well as linguistics. For fun, she loves to hang out with family and friends and play board games. When she saw seniors struggling in the COVID-19 pandemic, she wanted to help them during these hard times, so she founded Magic of Music. It's been a great joy to perform with fantastic musicians to give back to the community. We believe music has magic and hope to touch people's hearts.
Shiv Prasad
Project Manager
Shiv is a senior at Conant High School, and he has been playing piano for 12 years. In addition to piano, he plays violin and viola in his high school’s orchestra and studies Carnatic (South Indian Classical) violin. He loves performing, and he joined Magic of Music nearly 2 years ago to give back to the community and share his music with a larger audience. His experience in Magic of Music has inspired him not only to push himself as a musician, but also to find new performance opportunities for our organization. When he’s not at the piano, Shiv likes competing on his school’s math team and congressional debate team, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.

Piano
Hi! I am currently a sophomore at Phillips Exeter Academy. I have played piano for 7-8 years, primarily classical music. Outside of piano, I like philosophical discourse, watching chess analysis videos, reading - fiction, nonfiction, anything! - and taking long night walks. I joined Magic of Music because I want to gain more performing experience and meet new people.
